Once again it's been quite a while since I sent out a newsletter. I've been especially bad at "newslettering" since I started blogging, and I've been bad at blogging since family pressures began to take center stage earlier this year.
My youngest daughter was married earlier this year and was expecting her first baby at the end of December. My impatient little grand-daughter was born on September 24 -- 13 weeks early. She weighed 2 pounds 9 ounces (roughly 1162 grams), and was 14 1/2 inches long. In the past ten weeks of life, she's battled an e.coli based form of meningitis, pneumonia, sepsis, and a mysterious infection that went away before the doctors could diagnose it. She's still in the Newborn ICU but doing much better now. She weighs a whopping 5 pounds 11 ounces (roughly 2580 grams), loves the musical mobile hanging over her bed and likes to hear Grandmom read stories to her. We're hoping that she'll be able to join her parents at home by Christmas. Besides worrying about the new baby, my family lost two good men this year. My dad passed away on October 6, and a cousin passed away on September 23. It's been tough adjusting to a world without my dad in it.
Writing has been a bit tough with everything that's been going on. My editor has been wonderfully understanding and we've pushed PEPPERMINT TWISTED back on the production schedule to allow me time to get back into the swing of things. I plan to have the manuscript to my editor by the end of the year and the book is tentatively scheduled for release in December 2007. That may change, of course, but I'll keep you updated.
I hope the happiness of the holiday season surrounds each one of you. Until next time . . .
May each day be filled with Sweet Success
Sammi
